Parents and Friends Association
The Parents and Friends Association (P&F) meets once a term. Its aims are:
-
To initiate or assist with any project or activity which may be beneficial to the school.
- To promote friendship and cooperation between all those
associated with the school.
- To raise funds to promote the aims of the Association.
The Parents and Friends Association is open to all current members of the school community. All parents are encouraged to support the association and its activities.
The Parents and Friends Association has a great calendar of both social and fundraising events each year. Our aim for fundraising activities is that they also be FUN-raising!
Our major fundraiser for the year is the Big Night Out. This is usually held in Term 3. It is a great social occasion organised by the parents of Year 3 and is strongly supported by the parent body.
We also hold a spell-a-thon that has been a great success in the past and continues to raise money for the school and improve children’s spelling at the same time.
Each Class is encouraged to hold a dinner or get together for parents at the beginning of each year to encourage the strong sense of community which is a hallmark of our school.
At St Mary’s we place enormous value on the role of parents and the P&F help the children celebrate Mother’s Day and Father’s Day with a breakfast at school followed by a Liturgy prepared by the Staff and students.
The P&F also organises morning teas for combined school & parish Masses.
Of course we would be nothing without our wonderful teaching staff and we recognise their wonderful efforts on International Teachers Day.
The P&F also runs the clothing pool through which we sell the sports polo shirts and second hand uniforms. The clothing pool is opened before school on the first Tuesday of each month.
Our sense of charity and obligation to others is highlighted by the coordination of hampers to donate to underprivileged families at the end of the school year. At present we have a sister relationship with Emerton School in western Sydney.
